Julia & Dean : Vineyard : Ohau

We were lucky enough to also be guests at Dean & Julia’s wedding.  Dean is an old friend of Dion’s from the black sticks days who I have always admired for being a complete gentleman.  Lovely to be in the presence of a couple who are so gentle. kind, thoughtful and beaming with happiness!

Lord Lichfields Royal Wedding photos…

While reading the Huffington post the other morning I came across what they decided was the best royal wedding photo ever.  Lord Lichfield caught this lovely natural moment when one of the bridesmaids bumped her head and Dianna was making sure she was OK. It led me to check out some more of his photos and found this photo of Rock Royalty wedding of Mick and Bianca which is just an all time classic!

Advanced Style

My lovely friend FAITH just sent me a link to this blog with the advice that now I am 41 I can get some tips from these ladies… ADVANCED STYLE.  I think I just might, thanks Faith!

The devil came on horseback

I watched this chilling but excellent documentary over the weekend about an African Union observer in Darfur who was armed with a camera…

Jules & Blake at Cablebay

Jules and Blake have to be one of the warmest most natural and fun loving couples I have had the pleasure of meeting.   They also have a lot of friends who have that same lovely warmth.  Their wedding had this incredibly special energy about it, and was a celebration of being together, growing together and having children together, with a huge amount of laughter and joy. Everyones speeches were amazing and Blakes speech was an absolute tear jerker (my viewfinder MAY have misted up at one point).  They wanted their day to include their children and all their friends children and its one of those days I imagine most of them will remember for the rest of their lives.  The ultimate party with an enormous amount of heart!

Val & Bob

Val and Bob, my grandparents.  Although I never called them Nan and Grandpop like all my other siblings and cousins, just Val and Bob.  Being the first Grandchild they felt they were far too young for all that when I was born and it stuck.  Mum sent me this photo of their wedding day a while ago & I have it pinned to my inspiration board.  I think its pretty amazing to get such a documentary style image from that era.  I love they way  their heads are turned towards each other.  Bob has just said something to Val…. I don’t know what.  I can imagine though.  When Bob died, a couple of years after Val we found old letters tied together with a ribbon.  They were love letters from the war when Bob was a bomber pilot.  I have tried to read them a couple of times but each time I have so many tears blocking my view I have to stop. I think this photo is like a love letter.

home made lemonade

The last two weddings I have photographed served real home made lemonade, so yummy and refreshing on a hot summers day!

Chris & Leah at Highwic House

Chris and Leah had to be the most fun loving, easy going, and happy bride and groom I have ever photographed!  Maybe something to do with the fact that they had already been married once before… to each other that is!  After celebrating one wedding in London they jetted back to NZ to celebrate with all their very lovely friends and family at Highwic House. Photographing at Highwic was a first for me and turned out to be a great location with beautiful gardens and cool interiors. XX
